Basketball
I've been playing basketball for as long as I can remember. Although I have played the game a lot I haven't always been good. My 7th grade year I changed schools from BMU to Oxbow. When I go to Oxbow I quickly found out that the main sport that kids my age cared about was basketball and were much batter than I was. I found this to be a challenge, after school every day I worked on everything about my game. I practiced dribbling shooting and passing all the time until I got better at it. By the end of seventh grade I was finally beginning to fit in with the other basketball players in my class. While continuing to get better at the sport I also started working on one of my biggest dreams, dunking. In 8th grade I worked every day during school on my jump. I would go into the workout room and do tons of squats and toe ups with the upperclassmen. After a few weeks I learned that the biggest part of jumping is the form. After figuring everything out about that I finally started to jump higher. Half way through my 8th grade year I was able to jump up and grab the rim and hold on. After school got out I could easily jump up and grab the rim. Over the summer I continued working and working on my jump. By the time I was back in school my 9th grade year I threw down my first time ever. From there on out everything about my game continued to get better and better in hopes for someday being able to play college basketball. Once 11th grade rolled around I switched back to BMU. Even when being at a smaller school I continued to get better and better. My 11th grade year I switched my position from being a forward to a guard which also took a lot of work. In the long run thinking about the amount of 6'3" forwards that were actually successful after high school weren't very good. I knew that I had to change in order to move on to the next level. The summers between my 10th and 12 grade years were filled with camps. I went to Dartmouth Recruitment camps, UVM basketball camps 3 times, Lyndon camps, and Johnson camps. Going to these camps helped me get better and showed me what my competition was going to be for the rest of my basketball season. For my 12th grade year after all this work I have finally dunked in a game, Scored multiple 20+point games, 30 point games and even a 42 point game making me the highest scorer in one game in BMU history. From 12th grade I want to go on to the next level and play college basketball.
